This coin just showed up, which added to my Caesar count.

    Lucius Aelius Caesar 137 AD.
Became the adopted son and intended successor of Roman Emperor Hadrian ( Oki is going to like him), but never attained the throne.
One that didn't die a violent death, like most of the others. he had two sons and two daughters. one of which was Lucius Verus, which married the daughter of Marcus Aurelius..Lucilla.
On MrSteveX rarity scale 85. :)

    Aelius ...137AD.
    Ae Sestertius..

Obv. bare head of Aelius right.
Rev. Spes advancing left holding flower and raising skirt.
    Rome Mint..
    31mm x 26.07g. nice big pond skipper!!
    Lite brown patina.
Please post your Aelius or Spes coins..

Love the 'pond-skimmers'.....my sole example is a modest denarius (and a Lucilla and a Verus) that I need to photograph---darn lousy mini-cam and cheap camera phone LOL

Next week I hope to remedy that problem and post my old album coins soon thereafter.

Nice one, Eng! It's got eye appeal.
Aelius is on the want list too, but now behind Lucius Ballus :D.

Mine is an Alexandrian hemidrachm. The type also comes in a full drachm size but its weight of 12.56g makes it the half. The reverse is unusual showing Homonoia identified by legend and is dated by the consulship B=2 rather than the expected L numbers. This is Emmett 1352.

I only have one Roman Aelius. It is a low grade as with Salus seated.

Great addition to your collection, John, and great coins everyone. I have none of the emperors in question, but I do have a few of Spes.

Tetricus II, a common type for this emperor...

    tet2b500.jpg

And a less common type for Constantius II...
