I have some memorial cents that under magnification look like the coin has pimples.I bought them as error coins and they were labeled as heating annulled. They look to be an reaction in the copper making process. Can anyone give me some info on these coins-are they worth holding on to ?. Does people collect these coins? are they of anything over face value ?.Sorry I cannot give pictures but have not figured out how to do that yet.The pimples appear on both sides of the coins.
    Thank You in advance,

If they are dated 1982 (after a composition change) or later, they are copper plated over zinc.

They are well known for having corrosion under the plating that causes those bubbles under the plating. They are not errors, they are worth only face value.

    Thanks,
    Bill

I think that you are referring to 'annealed', but I don't have your answer. Other's will.

I'll guess this is the look you are talking about. Some folks call it gas bubbles under the copper plate and others call it corrosion. I don't know what is correct.

I called them gas bubble and told I was wrong.

David Lange and Charles Daughtrey, both Lincoln experts, call them gas bubbles.
