Knowing that I had begun collecting coins, a friend brought over their jar of pocket change for me to go through. When I emptied the jar out on the table and began to sort I quickly noticed the 2 cent shield poking out from under the pile of other coins. This being my earliest find I was quite excited only to be heart broken when I saw the damage to the coin. I was really pretty mad which my friend didn't quite understand, LOL. Not being a collector, she told me I could have it. So, the happy ending is now I have the first year of a short and relativly inexpensive series to start collecting. Guess my Franklins will have to wait a while. I haven't found a good example of the 1864 small motto to judge this one against. I think it's a large motto, any help would be appriciated.
I think that's a great coin to have in your collection. It has certainly seen its fair share of circulation.
Rollinoffset, that wear gives this coin a lot of character-----if it could talk it could tell some interesting tales!!! Like your Avatar.
Nope...pellet guns are not for me anymore...22 rifle all the way to sniper rifles....some make too big of hole...and also the guy I run around with...he will flip a dime in the air...picks up a .22 rifle and shoots the dime while it in the air...and it comes down with a hole in it. (I'd better quit...it is off topic!!!) Speedy
