I have a Haweater 1986 dollar coin from Manitoulin Island. I was wondering if anyone knew what this coin was worth if anything at all?
    Thanks!!

Howdy Hayls - Welcome to the Forum !!

What you have a is a privately issued token, sometimes called a trade dollar. They are issued by communities for tourist and townspeople to use in trade at local businesses. Outside of the community they have no monetary value. But there are sometimes people who collect them.

The ones from Manitoulin Island have been issued every year since 1969 and are still being issued. There are shops that sell them for a few dollars and sometimes they are sold on ebay, but seldom for more than $10 or so.

There should be a correction made regarding the date the Haweater Token was first issued. I have a set of 3 from 1968, put out by the Lions club. One is bronze, one is silver, one is Gold. They also minted 105 Sterling Tokens, (very rare). I have the certificates still attached to them, but not for the Sterling one.
    -# minted Bronze 500,
    -# minted silver unknown,
    -# minted gold 300,
    -# minted sterling 105.
This is according to the COA that came with the Tokens.
