I was hunting through about $50 worth of quarters from the bank today and came across this quarter. It jumped right out because of the extremely dull silver appearance compared to every other quarter. The pictures don't do the color justice as it comes out more cream than silver, but it is very dull silver. The reverse side is completely normal and shiny as you can see in the pics. But it is a different texture and color on the obverse all together. The detail on the obverse is great as well. Anything else this could be besides missing a clad layer?

Just circulated and maybe some environmental damage. Missing clad layer (outer coating) would reveal the coin to appear to be struck on copper on one side, and silver color on the other side.
You can weigh it, and if it weighs any where around 5.67g it's not missing a clad layer. That would be lighter in the 4.7 gram area.

Good to know. It's weighing @ 5.72. I take it that if it where environmental damage it possibly could have been an end roll coin perhaps? Correct me if I'm wrong but wouldnt circulation show wear on both sides though maybe not even on both? Not trying to say this is something it's not and I'm here to learn, just trying to understand what the process might be that created this appearance.

Yes that's true. It had to be some kind of circumstance where one side was affected and not the other. Coin roll is one possibility. It also could have been a metal detecting find, where one side was protected somehow.
But if it weighs 5.72, it's a spender.

Correct. I have found coin spills of 3 or 4 Quarters stacked together while metal detecting. If 2 Quarters are together enough to protect one side, the other side is affected by the soil or dirt.

So in other words like Michael was saying... If you look at my profile pic that is the color and look of missing a clad layer.
