I think the 5 was nicked by something and the metal was moved. Do you see the notch on the bottom of the 5 where the metal was removed?
1. The correct term is doubled die. 2. The numbers have contact hits. 3. The top edges of the numbers and letters shows die deterioration. 4. When you suspect doubling, go to VV or Wexler and confirm. If VV or Wexler do not list the variety it probably is not doubling…imo…Spark
Fair, especially for the state quarters--but lots of new varieties are discovered frequently. I do agree that looking at VarietyVista or Wexler's listings is the best way to search though. I also think it's probably a hit, you can probably see that if you look at it at another angle.
