I am intrested in collecting coins from hawaii and have made my first purchase I think it was a good deal but I am not sure as there is not to much info on these coins online. Let me know if I did ok I just love the way these coins look for some reason and if anyone can give me some giudance on how to go about buying these I would be thankful. Oh yeah I paid 192.00 dollars for my first one. Hope I did not get the shaft.

I don't know anything about this type coin but I'm sure some of the guys will--I do have some suggestions..
Buy the book and read it BEFORE you buy the coin---also research the market some to learn what kind of prices the coins are bringing so you know what to bid...

    Nice coin BTW!

    Thanks

I will take your advise, I mainly bought it because I liked it and was not thinking much on its value I will do some research next time first.

    Troycoins,
I'd say you did pretty well. These are extremely difficult coins to find in higher grades.I've done a bit of reserch on this particular one-year issue quarter because I bought one about a year ago for $40 in XF condition except for one "minor" problem..hehe
So before you begin to feel bad about the amount you paid, take a look.:(
Don't ask me what happened,I have no clue!
Here is the thread I posted at the time with some interesting info that might help you:
    http://www.cointalk.org/showthread.php?t=10024
Anyway,Krause lists it at $225 in MS60 and $550 in MS65 so ya did good!

I went to Heritage and found that this coin has been selling for...the same date--grade...from $207-$230---that has been what it looks like they have been selling for all this year..so yeah I say you did ok!

I would suggest you join (Free) Heritage....http://coins.heritageauctions.com/Auctions/index.asp?SID=E1C8A0691F07440C96B8F1D638DD8888
    They have an archive...
    http://coins.heritageauctions.com/common/auction/pricesrealized.php?&stage=1
and it is easy to look up the value of these coins...
Here is a link right to these types of coins...
