Hello. I recently purchased a large amount of Morgan dollars from an estate sale, and in looking, I noticed some nice little die breaks on the obverse side of this one. I check vamworld, but I couldn't track it down. It may not even be listed, or has been delisted, but if anyone can help, I would appreciate it. Thanks

    Cno newer the question.....but....

If you don't mind my askin' did you have much competition on the lot, did you get the lot for a good price? I've often wondered if estate sales are worth the trouble or money

I have had some great luck at estate sales, but they are not all home runs. The one where I got this Morgan, I got 25 of them for 19 bucks each. I group them into lots and get better deals on the higher grade coins this way.
A few months ago, I got an 1881 S Morgan for 30 bucks that is being slabbed by PCGS right now. Should come back MS-66 or 67 DMPL.
Best estate sale find...a 1901 S Barber quarter for $2.

Nice. I need to find a good source for estate sales announcements I guess, and start attending. I've heard too that you need to be early.

I'm having a hard time seeing the die breaks you mentioned, but you should be aware that VAM's are rarely assigned to die breaks unless they are very severe with substantial metal displacement.

The breaks, or maybe better called die cracks, run along the bottom of the 19 in the date, as well as the stars to the left of the date, and go into the denticles. I know that they do not assign a VAM solely on a die crack or break; I was just hoping a seasoned VAMmer would recognize them as markers for a particular VAM.
