I actually did this so I could narrow down what I need to look for and concentrate on first. Just a focus guide. Interpreting the pictures - first for the Large cent list: (1) I did not regrade each coin, so do not pay attention to the grade. (2) The check marks mean nice coins, you can do better (3) The G4's upgrade with a different variety, (4) no grade means no coin. Now - I will probably upgrade with a different variety some of the VG's also. I did this just so I did not have to jump into my software - plus I have 30-40 more large cents than what is listed - varying grades and varieties. As far as I am concerned the braided hair is done with the exception of 39, 40 and 51 upgrades, plus a 57 small date. I did glance at each coin - only 2/3 would I not buy now. The next two pictures are of my IHC's. This list is much easier and does not include all the raw coins which several of them could probably grade out, but I will worry about that later. I also took the best grade from each date, except for 1864 - I have all the 64's but I listed the with "L" coins. I also have multiple graded coins for several of the dates and listed the best graded coin. So I have plain and fancy 5 for the 1865's, but listed the best grade. The ICG AU coins I got all 3 for about $40 dollars off ebay in a lot and I think ICG hit the grade. So the blank ones are the ones I need graded or I want to upgrade. So just enjoy the pictures of the coins or (depending on your eye-sight) all the plastic.:mouth: So what do you see coins or plastic? I thought that would make this more...ummm...fun.
Nice way to keep track of what you got, and to keep you on track to what you need to still get Oh... and nice IHC collection!
I like those holders - I saw those at the FUN show but they were out and would have to ship so I got the catalog. I think it takes up a lot more room than a NGC box (all slabs fit in those) but is nice to not have to pull out each coin to view. But I was wondering if anyone has had those for a 'while' ... like .. 2-3 years?? I really hate when the slabs start getting scratched or worn if pulled out, viewed a lot, so I usually slip those in the plastic sleeves for sports cards. Do the plastic pages seem strong enough to protect the slabs? I'm usually a bit obsessive (translate snatch the book away) when people go flipping through my collection notebooks of 2x2 coins pages and just 'bang' one page on top of another... I'd really hate them 'banging' the slabs too.
It does take a lot more room than the NGC or PCGS type box holders. I like it because you can flip thru it and not have to pull each coin out. It seems pretty sturdy to me - (oops added)but you do need to be careful when turning the page. I do need to get the fillers for the ANACs slabs, since they silde around in the holder. I also think if you are not careful when sliding the holders in and out you can scratch them. One of the reasons I do not like 2x2's is because I am scared I will accidently drop a coin - so almost all of my raw coins go in airtites. I thought the lists would help, my last trip to the coin store they had a really nice middle to late date large cents and I could not remember the ones I wanted to upgrade. Luckily that 1795 large cent jumped out at me. Now that I think about when I walked in the door, he rotated the display case to liberty cap large cents before I got around to the case. Hmmm - I think they knew me too well.
