Have you seen an altered penny (or other coin) like this before?

Hello. I came across this penny a couple of days ago in a bank roll. Has anyone else seen a coin altered in this fashion. The work seems to have been done with a small powered tool. It's very cleanly done.

It is very, very common. The image was pressed or stamped into the coin.

I have a small collection of those type pennies, they arn't worth much but they are kind of cool. you can even get a roll of pennies with each penny having an outline of a different state on it, never gonna be a high dollar item but if you enjoy them keep them! You can even buy the stampers and make your own,in any form you want, hahaha!

 

Thanks for the info folks. I'm reasonably new to cents, and this is the first I've heard of novelty pennies. I'll put this one in a 2x2 and stick it back.
