I've found about (8) $1 Silver Cert's in change. Sometimes I get them from friends who use them when we play cards. They're not common, but I've managed to pick up a few.

I think I've amassed about 15 so far. I'll take some pics if I remember where I put them!!!

I've been known to spend silver certs (and the occasional red seal $2 and $5), just so somebody would notice them and perhaps get interested in paper money collecting. They were circulated common notes that I'd pick up in the process of buying and selling.

    Last one I remember spending was a 57A $1.

I found a $5 silver and a $5 red seal from an Antique store I visit. They knew I collected coins!
These are the first silver, etc I've found in change.

I used to get ones all the time (although not recently). And I even got a $10 once.

One time got a $5 silver certificate in change at the video store at Cannon Air Force Base (Clovis, NM). Still can't figure out what happened to it; am sure I saved it but I haven't been able to find it in my stuff since moving from there.

  10. Only ever found two. Both from vending machines I had. One is cooler than the other. Can you see why? My only guess is it was probably jackeen!:p

    Happy hunting,

Once, a one dollar certificate, I think. It was many years ago, and it wasn't exactly collector condition. I imagine that it's stored somewhere.

I've gotten at least one $1 silver certificate, one $5 United States Note, and several $2 USN's.

peachymargarita, why does the one in the second image have a yellow seal?

rex - the yellow seal on peachy's note means it's from the emergency issue of World War II, made to pay American troops in North Africa and Europe.
