i guess that some would worry about having a display on easy sight, but let's face it, it is nice to see some of your prized stuff just by walking past. So I picked up a modern 30"x30" wall mounted cabinet with glass shelves and have added an LED light and put it up in my study. Looks great and makes me smile when I look at it but right now I have just a few slabbed coins, the odd bit of bullion and other ancients and currency coins and would like to expand into other coinage curios. I had hoped to get a die but postage from the US was a bit prohibitive. Interested in any thoughts or ideas of what you may have.
Instsll a drop drawer or hidden compartment, plus keep the glass so you can display but sandwich the glass between plexiglass each atleast 1/2 inçh thick. Get some laminate for the inside; under it steel. I know sounds nuts but I love to build furniture with hidden compartments or surprises.
I do have a couple of "death" pennies in my china cabinet. One is for a British soldier who lost his life in Gallipoli in 1915, the other one an American serving in the British army who lost his life in 1918.
Love the PRR GG-1's those are beauties. I want to see those the next time I invade Pennsylvania. Do you have a layout for them, actually use the catenary lines with the pantographs? I do have some pennies somewhere that were flattened by the GS-4 but it was in SP livery by then. Yeah, railroads, my other passion. My layout is SP and Wabash though, strange combo but ancestors worked for both.
No layout any more as I now live in a condo and just don't have the room. I sure miss seeing the GG-1 they were a site to behold.
