For me, coins have pretty much disappeared in business transactions. Last year, I paid for one thing with coins and received coins in change twice … once in the US, once in the UK. I still sometimes use paper money, but mostly it’s online or plastic. Nearly all my coin activity is collecting pre-1950 coins and the occasional modern commem. How about you? Cal
Yes it has. And I was a rebel.... For years I put all my pocket change in a coin stacker at the end of the day. Fill a stack and roll it... At the end of the year I usually carried $300.00-$500.00 in rolled change to the bank to be used for Christmas shopping.. I haven't carried rolled change to the bank in two years now.
Yes, about the only thing I use change for now is at the drive-in fast food window in the morning if I'm short of bills. Otherwise, I throw change in the little trunk to eventually take it to coinstar.
Yes, but yesterday I had to use cash for a couple buck. A kid was collecting (selling snacks) for the Boy Scouts. I thought the kid was a little girl, and I said, "thank you young lady." The kid told me "I'm a boy with long hair!" I guess that I'm just getting old.
It's near zero for me. I put them in coin a plastic coin tube holder to be rolled up and taken to the bank. The trouble is I handle so few coins, that takes forever.
Yes, but I always have some cash for tipping and don’t use cards for gas anymore since my card was compromised on a cross-country trip last April. I use cash and extra coins accumulated (once I’ve scanned them) for small purchases at the pay/diy kiosks. This helps me keep new pocket change for perusal on a almost daily occurrence…imo…Spark
I never use a card. Well once or twice a month, if I left the cash at home. Not too mention B&M coin shops will give discounts for cash.
I don't blame them one bit. You either have to charge the customer the card fees or eat them. I am a handyman, and the company states upfront they can pay with a check, a transfer #, or a card. The card they charge the customer the fee of 3.7%.
I use cash for small purchases where self-checkout is available, but "small purchase" is generally < $20, and trips to the grocery store for less than $20 are getting kind of rare. I do cycle change through the self-checkout machines -- feed unwanted coins into them, and try to maximize the coins I get back, although that's of course always less than a dollar's worth. I'll pay cash for tips, but it'll be paper money, and I won't ask for change.
I like to use cash for things like fast food but I never carry change so I don't use it. Credit card rewards encourage me to use that more and more.
all cash besides online purchases with some exceptions,i have a jar 1/4 of the way full of change from the last 2 months.
I still make change but almost never use it unless I’m trying to make more change. I roll and return coins about 3 times per year. Around $600. It’s how I feed my hobby.
