Has this coin been dipped?

I'm still new to determining if coins have been cleaned or not, but the reverse of this coin really makes me think it has been dipped. It just seems like the color is off in certain areas. What do you guys think?

On an unrelated note, is ebay currently messed up? The side panel on the left of the screen sticks way out to the right for me at the moment.

I got some RED IHC that I thought were realy RED...come to find out they had been dipped---I may have lost money on the coins but the knowledge I got from it was worth far more...

I would say the way the area around ONE CENT looks darker than the rest is a point that it was dipped....point #2 is that it is still RED...cents tone a dark brown as soon as the air hits them...and for this coin to still be RED after 109 years....it would have had to been sealed in a holder almost since it was minted.......
Do you see hairlines on the coin anywhere....are there any signs of wear anywhere on the coin...rubs or such???

ebay looks fine to me....sometimes if I'm on a computer that is on fast speed internet it shows-up funny...and then when I'm on dial-up it looks right back to the way it should....

I can't say about hairlines or anything, as all I have to go by in this case are the picturs (looking at coins on ebay, not to buy, just to learn about coins)

The problem with coin pics is - is it an honest pic, does it really represent what the coin would look like in hand ? All it takes to change the color of a coin in a pic is one little click - presto - magic ! Something as simple as changing the lightbulb will also change the color - don't even have to use magic :D

But that being aside, when you dip copper it quite often changes all kinds of colors. It may not happen right away or it may be instantly - but usually it will happen. And sometimes, it will just be a odd shade of copper red. To be able to recognize it - you have to be familiar with what undipped copper looks like in red, red/brown and brown. It's another one of those things that just requires experience.

So to answer your original question - who knows ? It depends on the pic. Anything else would just be a guess - even if it was an educated guess. This is where knowing and trusting your seller comes into play ;)
