I bought this from an online dealer by description only, no picture. It was described as EF. This is my fifth Morgan and my first EF, but compared to my other Morgans and even my other dollars that are in BU, this on seems too shiny with no tone. I suspect it has been cleaned but I am only judging by the other coins in my collection that I know haven't been cleaned, so I could use more opinions. Thanks

It can be hard to tell from photos if a coin has been cleaned abrasively. I suggest taking a point source light, such as an LED flashlight, and a looking at the coin with a magnifying glass in a dimly lit room. If you see parallel hairlines that cross the fields and devices, it has likely been cleaned. Many Morgans have been given a dip in silver cleaner to brighten them up, in the case of an xf coin it will look unnaturally bright but won't cause hairlines. What I see on your closeup photos are numerous marks consistent with circulation, but not necessarily a cleaning. I suggest you purchase and read Travers' "Coin Collector's Survival Manual" for good advice on spotting cleaned or otherwise boinked coins.
