Please check this out. No way a Barber in (supposedly) fine condition would be this shiny. I am assuming it has been cleaned? http://cgi.ebay.com/EstateCoins-190...386893550QQcategoryZ11971QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
I think it's overexposure. Here's what they look like, having been adjusted for white balance in Photoshop: Considerably darker than the auction pictures. The reality is probably yet worse, because Photoshop can only do so much in the absence of photographic information. This doesn't address whether the coin has been cleaned, of course, but I suspect in-hand it'd be a lot darker than in the pics.
"WE ACCEPT RETURNS ONLY IF NOTIFIED THREE DAYS AFTER RECEIPT OF THE ITEM. BUYER PAYS RETURN S&H PLUS INSURANCE PLUS A 10% RESTOCKING FEE. COIN RETURNS MUST BE IN ORIGINAL SEALED CONDITION AND PACKAGING PLUS RECEIVED WITHIN 10 DAYS OF YOUR NOTICE THAT YOU ARE RETURNING THE ITEM." Their return policy doesn't leave much wiggle room....and will cost you. Not worth the risk in my book.
I have absolutely no intention of bidding on this coin. The price is already higher than I would ever pay for a Barber in that condition. Plus it looks to me like it has been cleaned.
Crappy picture made to think it's a great coin. Wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole. Although I would buy it........with someone else's money
Worth about 0.49 or maybe a little more. If it is not cleaned it is a rare coin made from some magic material that stays clean regardless of time and invironment.
