Where does the 5 even come from. It’s a fraction the size of the numbers in the date (which doesn’t include a 5).
Yeah I thought they debunked this a long time ago as a strike-through from a piece of string or something. Yet here we are with an FS number and attribution by a major TPG. It's not even the same font. Go figure.
I couldn't lay the blame entirely on PCGS as coin " Error experts" has allowed these to be listed as some thing "Super special" over time rather than just saying they are a die break ( which has been discussed on CT a long time ago, but can be again. PCGS and others seem to feel "required" to keep all. IMO
I'm far from an expert but even I can tell there are no numbers on Roosevelt's cheek. Paradolia at its finest!
No! No! Look again and stare a while. It's not just a 5. It is a 15 followed by the Greek letter delta. I think this is a die clash from an ancient die being used by mistake.
Way overpriced for such a silly issue. You can get a Nickel struck on a Cent Planchet for half that price and it's a more desirable error! Lately I've noticed a lot of simple issues with ludicrous asking prices
LOL, the two major TPGS list only the varieties they do while ANACS and ICG do virtually all of them. Then PCGS pulls this! What a joke, right? Not so fast, this may signal that they are finally trying to act like a major TPGS BY STARTING TO ATTRIBUTE ANY PUBLISHED VARIETY! Welcome to the Wide World of Numismatics - over THIRTY YEARS TOO LATE!! But you didn't hear/read this from me.
I have some magic beans with a 5 on them that I've submitted to PCGS for certification and grading, what I need from everyone is help in determining how I price these rarities once they come back! I'm thinking $2575 per bean? Is that way too low???? Note, these will be the magic brown beans, not the more common CAC green variety.
