That could be a laminated planchet.

    Nice, whatever caused it.

Really, I'm very curious as to what caused it! I'm researching the laminated planchet , as hobo said.

If I had to guess I would say struck through, but it could very well lamination.

Right , if it was laminated wouldn't the face inside to indention part be missing ? Do you agree it was a mint error ? , lol or something a slot machine did.

the "lamination" is in the shape of a 1c reverse.

Great observation, I can kinda see the resemblence, but how would that happen?

If I had to guess, I'd say a squeese job. Looks like a Mem. cent reverse...

So, would it be a post mint error "man made"? I'm not conpletly sold on the idea of it being the 1 c reverse , still clueless.

Not sure if that is true - the angle and length of the angulated area off the point seems to be too long for the memorial theory to be true.

hmmmm.,. upon closer inspection, i retract this and agree with lamination. the angle of the 'flaw' does not match that on the LMC... sorry for the confusion. Very interesting coin. Don't throw it back. Too hard to dismiss...

I matched the two together and it is the same size , except its missing the both right before point , and waves do resemble the colums . Enable to tell for sure. On the reverse there is a tiny crater .

I'm leaning toward a lamination defect. I don't think it comes close to matching the LMC. Also, if you take a close look at where it crosses the left base of the "R" and the "G", there isn't any damage to the letters as you would expect from a "squeeze job".
