1950-D Jefferson Nickel while roll searching? If so how long ago did you find it? I think I might have to buy one, I am not feeling the luck
My little money loving heart skips a beat whence I see the date 1950 - but alas I have never been so lucky. I have found multiples of the 38-S, 38-D and 39-D though, including some pretty nice examples.
I once got some cwr nickels that apparently was someone's spent collection. It had 2 of every year and mint from 1938- 1959 except there wasn't a single war nickle in them.
wow that would be a great find, but i do like finding them 1 at at time. I am missing 7 coins from my 38-61 collection and its driving me crazy. I have been through allot of nickels too!
No. But when I was working at The NYS Bridge Authority as a toll collector I found one in change. Also a 1939 double monticello. Also people would break up proof sets and use them as cash. I would always put in the correct amount to cover the coin taken out. It was something when I was collecting tolls the stuff that came through the lanes. Thats the only thing I miss since I retired about 10 years ago.
very nice, I see a guy is selling rolls of 1950-d on the bay for around $360.00. Way too much for my blood
I found one about a year and a half ago, about in au condition. I was in a batch of $20 in nickels, with nothing else noteworthy in the rolls. There are a few gems out there, but they are becoming fewer and farther between.
I got mine from my grandmother unfinished Jefferson Nickels folder set. It had all the war nickels, 1938s, 1939s, 1951s.
My little money loving heart nearly skipped when I found a 1950 lying in the pile of coins from a roll I just opened up this morning - but I turned it over and the D must have fallen off or something
I found one about 4-6 months ago when I used to search nickels, I found a 39-D a few days later from a different box!
Just pulled a 1939d a few weeks ago. I'll post some pics sometime. Not quite as rare, but not by too much!
