I received an E-Gift Certificate from the US Mint for Christmas this year and so far it has been nothing but trouble. The first time I used it I got a message on the Mint's ordering page that stated "The gift certificate number you have entered, XXXXXXX, does not exist in our database. Please check the gift certificate number and try again." I had to call them on the phone during business hours to use my number. Fortunately customer service was able to retrieve the Gift Certificate number and I was able to place an order using the E-Gift certificate. Shortly thereafter I was e-mailed with a new E-Gift Certificate number with the new balance on it because I still had money left over. This morning I tried to order the American Veterans coin using the new number and I get the same message. I guess I'll have to get on the phone again tomorrow and go through the same routine. Has anyone else had issues with using the Mint's E-Gift Certificate program?
I called today and placed my order for the Disabled Veterans proof and unc. The customer service representative said that it was very common to have problems using the Mint's E-Gift certificates while checking out online. She pretty much said that if you want to use your E-Gift certificate that you had to phone your order in. I thought the "E" stood for ELECTRONIC. I guess a phone is electric isn't it?:rolling:
Someone on another forum I visit had the same issue. After a conference call, believe it or not, the Mint representative said that sometimes the number works, sometimes it doesn't, and the best bet is to use the phone ordering. Wotta crock... I guess "E" stands for "Extremely fouled up," to be nice... Joe
