    New Year's checks were popular during the late 1800s and early 1900s. They were sent like greeting cards. They were often drawn on the "Bank of Happiness" , the "Bank of Prosperity or the "Bank of Good Fortune". There are many different varieties ranging from simple, check-like forms to more elaborate pieces like this one.
