Happy Birthday to ME!!!

Discussion in 'US Coins Forum' started by americanpatriot, Mar 28, 2005.

  1. I got U.S. Proof Sets from 1984 to 1993 for my birthday a couple of weeks ago! Now I just need 1979 to 1983 and 1994 to 2005. I'm hoping to eventually get one every year for my birthday.

You lucky guy you. The 1986 proof set is especially valuable.

  4. Really? Why's that?

Americanpatriot--the 1986 PF set is not really valuable....it is only worth around $18-$20....if you want to see valuable ones look for ones in the 50's and before--

I'm not sure but '86 mint sets are also expensive and I've seen them for sale at $20-25 as opposed to mint and proof sets of 1987 that are only worth $5-7.

Yes Speedy but when you compare to other proof sets of the era the '86 costs 4x more than other years of the 80s so I for one find it to be valuable.

I see some of the 80's are cheaper but that doesn't make them "rare" or valuable--there are thousands if not millions of proof set from the 80's--

I think as a collector so I bet me and you don't think alike.

Is that right? Well I guess it is also a matter of perspective.
