in honor of Mr. Lincoln's 199th birthday today, i decided to invest in a small piece of history. i picked up my first vdb wheat cent today. no, its not the s vdb, just your standard 1909 vdb. its a non slabbed ms64 rb. it really is a pretty coin. as soon as i can get a pic, i will post it on here. but while in the shop, discussing the upcomming bicentennial of the the president's birth, and the 100 year mark of the Lincoln cent, an interesting comment was made. another gentleman in the shop stated that he believes the price of every 1909 wheat cent will at least double by the end of 2008. then the owner said he has a customer who comes in once a week and purchases the best quality 1909 cent he has available. he said people are hoarding them now in anticipation of the 2009 anniversary. just wanted to get everyones opinion on these comments that were made. are they pretty accurate? far fetched? is it a smart move to stock up? thanks, Greg :thumb:
