I bought a hansatsu, and I need help identifying it. I know it is one silver monme, but I do not know the issuer or when it was issued. I do not have an image of it, but this one from Heritage is identical with the exception of some seals. On that note, what are the seals for? I would imagine some of them are for verification of the money, but others seem random. Here is the note: https://currency.ha.com/itm/world-c...1144-31032.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515
I appreciate it, but it does not help with mine because it is not listed. I believe mine also does not have a date.
Hi - Nice Hansatsu note. There is no date found on the note. As with most Hansatsu, there is little information in English. I did find a little about it though: It was issued by/for the Kanrensha Temple, or perhaps Kanransha Temple - I've seen both spellings. These were for use in Kishu Province (now called Wakayama Prefecture) . I have not, however, been able to locate any definitive information on a temple called by either name. If I can, I'll try to look more this weekend. The seals I've notices are usually finance dept. seals, but I suspect some could possibly be "chop mark" types from other Hans, or businesses.
