Half dollar variants?

Good Morning,

I have found several (at least four of each) of the following and would like to know if anyone else has encountered them and what to think of them.

1983D no FG:




1994P with extra material on cheek near mouth. The amount of material is different on the ones I've found and they all have been P's, no D's.

While there is no listing in the CPG for a 1983D Kennedy "No FG", it doesn't mean that one couldn't exist. However, since you say you have at least four, I can't help but wonder if they aren't the result of a grease-filled die. Can you post separate, close-up photos of all four so that we can compare them?

I have no opinion about the "extra metal" on the '94's.

A few different angles of where the FG is missing would help.

 

On these ones, I think I see a faint FG, sooo...nevermind?

 

Sorry @Jasanche I still can’t tell. Perhaps some zoomed in shots? Regardless, they are nicely toned!

 

I can't tell from those photos. The toning is nice but it's probably AT from those colors.

 

Thanks, TexAg. With my limited photo knowledge, that's pretty much as good as it gets! I also like the toning, and this fella's going to stay here in my collection.
