Would anyone like to make me an offer on this roll of coins? This is a OBW N.F. String and Sons Unsearched Half Dollar Roll with an 1893 Columbian Exposition on one end and the reverse of a Walking Liberty on the other end. I can guarantee that this roll was purchased by me on ebay and is truly Unsearched! There is No telling what the other 18 coins could be! I'm not saying you will find more silver but usually when you get 2 silver ends, well you know, what are the odds? So any reasonable offers will be considered.

Bought on ebay? Would bet pretty much anything that the only good coins are those 2 on the ends. Same ole' scam.

Are you kidding? Nevermind. I'll just keep it. By the way, the roll weighs 241.6 grams. I'm betting there's a crapload more silver in the roll. Good Day edited

Wasn't trying to be rude or anything just pointing out that it most likely wouldn't have much of value besides the 2 end coins. Same thing is done with a mercury dime on the end of a cent roll or a "vdb".

It's been done on ebay for years. It's called "seeding" a roll. 2 good end coins, rest is junk.
Plus, how can you guarantee it is unsearched if it was sold on ebay? Are you just taking someone's word for it? How do you know the previous seller didn't roll it themselves?

I thought an OBW roll meant that all the coins are one date...

You tell me. You ever see a roll of half dollars weigh this much?

If it was 20 90% silver halfs, it would weigh 250g. Sorry, but there's no way it's a solid roll of silver.

Thanks for the math :p I was working on it and then was like "Meh I'm sure someone else will do it" lol.

I thought OBW was when a company sorts, and bank rolls and distributes coins to various banks and commercial businesses? Like N. F. String and Sons. That's what I meant anyway.

Yep, and an all clad would weigh 226 grams, you do the math, I already have :)

If half of the roll was 90% silver (including the end coins) and half was 40% silver, the weight would come out to about 240g, which is right on the money. If that's what it turns out to be, you would have about $134.50 melt. I would pay $140 tops as a fellow collector.

Nice math, I will consider your offer. That's a pretty interesting breakdown.

I am just saying what I personally would pay IF I was interested, but to be honest, I'm not interested in purchasing a so-called "unsearched roll" like this. If you really want to part with it, post it in the buy/sell/trade section listing your asking price.

Naw I don't like you peoples so called attitudes. I'm a very honest person and I sell fairly on ebay. I'll keep my so called silver coins and be on my way. Think I'll cancel my account here too. Laters.

I think you're taking our opinions a little bit too harshly. The fact that I said "I don't think it is unsearched" shouldn't be taken as an attitude issue or insult. I'm not calling you dishonest, I just don't think it is truely unsearched.

If you post in a public forum asking for opinions, be prepared to hear some that you may not agree with.

Just because I don't want to buy it, doesn't mean you won't get an offer from someone that does.

It has already been pointed out that this is not the forum for B/S/T propositions. However, whether you are a new member having no privileges for B/S/T or an older member, this type of response is totally inappropriate. You're going to find that there will be people who agree with you and those who don't agree with you. If you don't like the responses, then maybe you shouldn't be posting.

when I buy those rolls on ebay I pay only what I feel the end coins are worth.i have played that game on ebay and if you don't play it like I do you will be disappointed.

    TypicalCreepahx Hello There! ( ͡⚆ ͜ʖ ͡⚆)

What if their are foreign half dollars that weigh as much as a 90% half? Obviously you have never searched through "unsearched rolls with 2 silvers on the end"

Is a roll of silver half dollars heavier than a roll of nickel clad halves because a nickel clad half weighs more. Or is it supposed to be lighter?

Wait never mind. I just saw non_cents post.
