i know nothing about american coins so when i bought this half dollar ( i know its only worth half a dollar and nothing special) i noticed that around the rim is a brown line and i was wondering if this is something that happens a lot. hope you guys can help. you cant see it in the pics because like i said it is around the rim
The brown "line" you see around the rim of the coin is copper, as this is a copper clad coin, 75% copper 25% nickel.
but is that noral for these coins? sorry if this sounds really dumb but as im from the uk this is the only one ive ever seen in hand
yeah i know its not worth anything (except maby face value in us) but being from the uk i dont see these often at all so i got one just to fill a space really.
The one thing that makes your Kennedy half dollar different from those Kennedy halves issued in years other than 1976, is that your is a 1976 bi-centennial half dollar. It is a special issue commemorating 200 years of independence for the United States, the reverse depicts the independence hall in Philadelphia where the declaration of independence was signed in 1776. For all other years of issue(1964-2010), the Kennedy half dollar displays an eagle on the reverse.
