Hey guys, so I picked up a box, well $450 worth of half dollars from the bank today and hunted through the rolls, found no silver, I believe I got a bunch of rolls dumped from someone hunting aswell, but thats ok because I found this half dollar. Well I found 3 error coins but this is by far the most interesting, not sure whats going on with it it weighs 10.7 grams, has no date, is not silver and looks weird all around, truly one of a kind, I think it was minted in Denver but the mint mark is just a square so there is really no telling, I would love some input as to whats up with this coin. A regular half dollar weighs 11.3 grams so I know this is not just a worn out half dollar.

IT's just a damaged Half. The coin was ground or sanded down.

Im not sure about that, I'm pretty sure its a mint error, its slightly smaller swell.

There is no way that happened at the mint. Somebody had too much time on their hands.

There are very little scratches on it. it would be all scratched up if someone sanded it down.

Stuff like that happens at the mint all the time. Thats where Error coins come from.

He knows his stuff. Plus it showed a picture of a bicentenial that looked just like the one I have in a graded case.

Please search on Heritage Auctions for me, find a certified example, authenticated by PCGS or NGC, then give me a hollar when you find report back to us. Can't wait to hear about what you won't find

Stephen, what I see is definitely a Kennedy half. The difference in weight, 0.6 of a gram, is negligible considering how much of the coin has been ground away.
To me it looks like someone was trying to put some sort of knife edge on it, like a throwing star, but circular.
