Very hard to image, but this divot looks factory original to the coin.

Could be a struck through foreign object. I've ran into a couple of Lincoln's that look like that. It's about the only answer I've gotten other than PMD.

What does the obverse look like?

There is nothing unusual between the 1 and rust (opposite area) or really anywhere on the obverse, a late stage die for sure. Lots of flow and that halo around the head thing.

How about harness test on a hub?

Maybe I should have been more specific.
Post a picture of the obverse.

I have been ordered about !!! You don't believe me? What do you hope to find? Here is that area on the other side. What do you know from this?

(That should have been hardness test. Too bad we can't edit typos.)

    Don't think so.
How about a pic of BOTH sides of the SAME coin.

Mods, can you have a conversation with him about making defamatory accusations?

I went to the trouble of imaging the other side for this clown and what I get back is this???

Same coin rick. I'll bet you One Million US Dollars, OK?

this may be a small struck thru area. I have found a few coins with small round divots like this from new rolls of coins from the mint. I always wondered what was doing this at the mint , now I believe it may be from some of the metal beads from the polishing of the planchets after being annealed . I have two state quarters with lots of divots of different sizes that looks like something got stuck on the dies and got sunken into the planchets during the strike of the coins. both of these coins are identical and the only two found in the new box of quarters.

    STP..."Struck through pea". :D

Does seem to be nearly spherical/hemispherical in nature, an equal radius in depth as to the plan view. But the 'bead' (or pea for some) would have to have been split, with a flat face on the die field or it would have gone in further. What are those beads made of? This also shows a very slight flatness along the A. But a broken bead wouldn't be expected to be perfect.

Anybody know the dimensions of the harness testers or the beads?

I thought you had put the coin in a seat belt or something. :p

No, that's Stone Temple Pilots. Unless you meant WSP, in that case it would be Widespread Panic. :D

    Forgive me.
Looking quickly, I thought I was looking at a cent in the first photo. It might help if you posted pictures of the entire coin and not small sections of it.

I don't need a talking to by anyone, but your attitude has now put you on my ignore list.

I think Rick may have read my response about the Lincoln's. If I confused anyone I'm sorry.
