Hadrian Fourée Aureus/Denarius Roma Hadrian and Africa standing vis-à-vis

    Dear cf,

    Normally one would not expect a Fourée about an Aureus type

    Laureate head right

    Rev. ADVENTVI AVG AFRICA (sic)
    Hadrian standing right, raising his right hand, facing Africa standing left, holding patera and grain ears; altar between (bull on ground missing)

    I feel that if you tried to pass a fouree AUREUS to pay for something, the consequences would be MUCH heavier if you were caught! :)

    I could see a merchant saying, "oh, that is a bad Denarius, give me my stuff back".

    But a a bad Gold Aureus? "Hey, you CHEAT, I am cutting off your HAND!" WHACK!!
