Okay, this is my first contest, so I decided to make it a fairly quick and easy fun one. Allright, so the question is: The other night, I turned on the lights in the carport and looked outside, what animal did I just happen to see taking cover from the rain in my carport? Everyone gets only one guess, so make it count. I will show a photo of the creature at the end of the contest. Hints, okay, well it is an animal that is native to the Sonoran desert, and lives no where else on the planet. It is fairly rare, some people spend their entire lives living in the Sonoran desert without ever seeing one in the wild. I don't want to say much more, or it would be too easy. The Prizes: The winner will recieve two silver Swiss half francs, dated 1945B and 1946B, pictured below. If multiple people guess correctly, then the first to guess correctly will be the winner.
Nope, I will give you all one more hint.... and I might be giving you too much already..... it was not a mammal.
A possum, lol... those definitely aren't native to the Sonoran, I absolutely pulverized one about a month ago... nothing that could be done. Yeah, we were thinking mammals, so that definitely narrows it down substantially. EDIT: Nice quick edit there, Pilk...
Pilkenton wins! What do you mean quick edit? here is the photo I took that night, you can see it wasn't a very large Gila Monster. But I have added some shots of a larger one I took on my property a while back. Pilkenton, PM me your address and I'll mail your prizes. Good job. That was a quick contest. Thanks for trying all, good gueses.
Heh, the good old jackalope, how majestic. This one ended a bit quickly.... I'll try to make my next one a little more complex.... we'll see.
You were close, you were the only other person to guess a lizard. Desert Iguana are interesting creatures, I seem to have seen more Gila Monsters here than Desert Iguana. Thanks for participating. There are only two venemous lizards in the world, the Gila Monster is one, can anyone guess what the other is? no prizes for this one, just a bonuz question...
Well that was my fault. I forgot that Gila Monster does live outside of the Sonoran desert in the southwestern US, and Mexico. Sorry about that,
I think it's the beaded lizard. I had a test one time that asked that but it was a couple of lifetimes ago.
