So how well will you compare with the TPG's grade ? This gem is a 1793 Wreath Cent with Vine & Bars Edge- Give it shot & let me know what you think- The white flecks are on the outer plastic , sorry I just didnt have time to retake the pictures.
VF30. EAC 25. Outrageous coin ! Are you sharing the royalties from spock's inherited oil well(s) ? Fabulous color. Strong planchet... is that a little reverse planchet porosity between CENT and the trefoil ?
Beautiful wreath cent. Very Fine 25 to VF 30. S-9 variety i think, R-2. A premium coin for sure, excellent surfaces. Congratulations!
No congrats needed . I am just the keeper of the coin until it finds a new home. Gosh though I wish I was the owner.
Holy friggin moley! What a coin!!!!!!!!!! I'll say XF 45, and suspect some are confusing weak strike for wear (I did peek at the other guesses this time)...>Mike
I'm going to say VF30. I'm terrible at grading big coppers and I'm not familiar with this type in particular (since I'm a poor student).
Well I agree with Mike XF45 and I think a choice one at that. I went to Heritage to view a few of these puppies - nice coin.
I gotta say the coin should grade VF30. But I have seen other in far worse shape graded as XF40 by PCGS. And that's what always throws me for a loop with these early US coins. They have examples of this coin graded as high as MS69 believe it or not, with 68's and 67's thrown in, with one MS68 Red even. But get into the circulated grades and all sense of perspective seems to go out the window. I dunno, I guess I'll always feel that they just over-grade these coins. Take a look at this one, and then tell me how that coin could grade XF - Click Here
