Which coin has a star on the label, and why?

Are they Brown or Red Brown?

 

I'd say #2, better strike and a slight bump in eye appeal over #1, IMO. They're both really nice though.

 

I'd go with #2 as well. The strike is better, the colors a little more vivid and there is a little bit of original red visible. The first one looks like it has a bit of a finger print on the obverse right on Lincoln's upper arm/shoulder and the obverse is overall darker than the second one.

I think the top one is the star.

I remember when the bottom was posted as a new acquisition but don’t remember if it had the star.

I think the point is why didn’t the bottom one star because the top coin did with less eye appeal.

I feel the top got the star at Brown but I think the bottom at red brown is more worthy

Assuming it IS #1....
The only logical explanation is that they are stingy with it nowadays.

Regardless of which one actually does, #2 certainly deserves it.

 

If only I could make a coin out of obverse 2, reverse 1....

 

The 67RB was sent in for designation review, which still didn't get me the star....

I believe both are worthy of the star.
