Alrighty then, here is a contest to guess the total number of pennies in a ONE Gallon Pickle Jar along with my father's first name. These pennies are all from 1959-2005 and my old man was from 1915-1995, (Rest His Soul, he is missed ) The winner will be the first one to guess the total or closest to it and the name will be used as a tie-breaker. To be determined by me. Three guess's are all that's allowed. The prize will be determined in the near future and it will be a pretty good one The contest will end on Christmas Day Good Luck to All Bonedigger And the WINNER is!!!!! DESSO!!!!!!
hmm.. 240 pennies to an pound, 8 pound = 1 gallon of wine, so 40 lbs in 5 gallons. 40*240=9600.. I'll geuss you have $96.00 there Most popular names in 1915 were John or Michael, so I'll say Howard. :smile 2nd Guess... edit: Before 1982, there was about 146 pennies in a pound... If all the pre-1982 pennies were out of circulation, there would be about 181 pennies to the pound. .. so i'll say 160 pennies to a pound. so that takes my guess down to .. 6400 pennies or $64.00 I'll stick with Howard
5 gallon jar eh? Looks one gallon-ish...but I'll take your word for it 11257 pennies Robert as a first name
10694 pennies The volume of a penny is .36 cubic centimeters, and there are 3850 cubic centimeters in a gallon, so 3850/.36= 10694. That's off though as it doesn't factor in the space between the pennies, and I don't feel like calculating all that right now. : )
LOL...no worries Course now I'm tempted to go home and count out my own one gallon pickle jar of pennies..... naw...I'll just guess again Revised guess: 6532
I peg the number at ~ 5700 pennies, using some statistical mathamatics on volume probablility still fresh in my mind from finals (ahh...brane hert) As for your fathers name? Ralph. Something that starts with an R, at the least.
I just want to know why they aren't spilling out of the jar at that angle? Have you altered the laws of gravity or something? Well if you can do that, you might be able create a space inside the jar that is larger than the space outside of the jar and throw us all off. Tricky! $77.50 or 7,750 pennies to the other-worldly pickle jar. And your dad's name was Tom. Like Tom Baker and his T.A.R.D.I.S. pickle jar. WHO? as in Dr.
