I haven't seen an Ike thread in a while, so here's a 'guess the grade - Ike edition'. PCGS graded 1972 Type 2.

I was gonna say MS64 but then I noticed the nasty rim ding on the obverse and changed my mind to MS63. That is a damaged grade ding in Doug's grading book btw.

  4. Two rim gouges/dings and more bag marks than my MS 63, so I have to go with MS62. If not, then my MS63 should be a MS64. TC

I love this! I've been thinking about doing a Guess the Grade Ike edition. Glad you were more proactive!

Concerning the coin.....I'm VERY torn. Nice Luster, My gut tells me TopCat is correct with MS62, but I would swear I see some wear on a few high points.

Can't WAIT to see the results.

62, but 63 would not surprise me.

    nice type 2

Since there is usually some talk about Ike's being over graded, I'm going to ring in with a 63.

Thanks to all who voted! PCGS says MS64. The rim hit (the big one) is really not that noticable in actual size and lighting - for some reason the camera really highlighted it, and the planchet flaws. Not sure what the mint polished the Eisenhower planchets with - a chainsaw?

I'm sure when these were shoveled out of the bins, that's what caused it. :D

    I would say MS62, possibly 63.

EDIT: I see the grade was posted as MS64. That's surprising actually.

WOW! I knew the strike and luster were pretty good. Also knew Ike's were bad for planchet flaws and TPG's aren't supposed to take points away for that, but I missed this one by a MILE.

I'm definitely gonna rethink sending a few Ike's in for grading......

  21. Wow! My 63 needs to get resubmitted, it may be a 65 now. :smile TC
