The Ike fans are getting pretty good - here's another...

PS: The diagonal 'scratches' on the reverse are NOT on the holder. There are no marks on the holder.

Boy. It is starting to look like I have not learned a thing about grading the past two years. I am at Au and everyone else is a MS so far. Amazing.

    Fun contest. Thanks.

ms-63, too nice of an obverse for those scratches on the reverse to drop it. not die polish either as it goes on the devices.

I'll go 64 , the fields are clean , just don't think those marks are too bad on his face .

Remember , scratches aren't wear . Wear will show as a slightly different color or breaks in the luster .

Those diagonal marks are striations caused from the coin strip coming through the blanking press. They exist on the obverse of this coin as well but are not as clear as what shows on the reverse.

In and of themselves, they are not grade limiting since they occur before the coin is struck.

This is why i stick behind the MS65 and the striations are common on alot of ikes but i will admit i had no idea what caused them until 19Lyds pointed them out. He is an Ike genius....:thumb:

  17. Sorry, late to the party. I see you already posted the grade. I would say 64 and would be wrong. However, I know you would never do this, but if you cracked it out and resubmitted it, I think there would be a better chance it would come back 64 than 65. Congrats on the 65 and keep it in it's final resting place! :smile TC

Survey says several people got it and most were close. Pretty amazing for a tough-to-grade series.
    Thanks everyone!
