Guess the grade of this IH that I'm receiving in the mail! I took a big risk; the seller had a single photo of this IH cent in an NGC slab and apparently had no clue how to read the label (couldn't/wouldn't tell me what the label and grade read). What do you think the grade is? I'll be posting the results along with pictures once I receive the coin in hand. Also, if it does grade, would it be BN or RB?

    Thanks!

Lettering is very distinct but appears incomplete. All devices are missing. Nice white, with no hint of toning. However I'm going to go with 'mint error - missing everything, including a shape'.

The fact that they "wouldn't/couldn't" tell you the grade, I'm going to say it says "Genuine".

You can't grade a coin using just one side.

    That is true.

Details look nice and the fields are clean, but the luster is obviously subdued (or at least on the obverse).

Assuming the reverse is similar in overall appearance, I said 62BN, but NGC probably called it 63BN.

I agree with Irish that if it had a grade they would have shown it , so I'll go with Unc details , but if I were to grade the one side I'd go with a 64 Bn .

Somewhere between genuine and 63. That is all you can tell from one side.

I'll go out on a limb here and say MS-64 RB

  14. 62BN maybe a 63BN.

Based on the obverse, I would say MS62 BN. BTW, this might be the most confusing GTG thread I have ever read. Why is there a strange post above the OP?

Hey no fair - there's a picture now. I will change my guess to MS63RB.

No telling what it really is from that picture, but I will swag a 63bn.

i'm guessing details uncirculated ... the zero in the date makes me suspicious of that toning
