The last Washington thread ended without a lucky guess. It contained a very attractive UNC Details coin (as cleaned by bqcoins, probably while sleepwalking ), where the pretty factor played with our emotions. Here is a less attractive specimen from NGC. Try your luck while ignoring any slab scratches...
There is nothing wrong with the price, you did well...I just don't find it attractive. Even for a good deal, I personally would have passed. Not that that changes anything about it, if you like it...then there is nothing wrong with it.
MS65 I'll bet it was put in a Blue Whitman coin set folder in 1958, then in just the past couple of years somebody sent it in to be graded.
I mainly liked the price, but, the quality is there, too. I do a fair bit of international swaps and figured I can do well with it down the road, swapping it for something decent and worth more than $12. My other 1958D is also an acquired taste... Listen, you surprised me in a couple of your older posts, the way you described the majority of your collection. I'm glad you're now able to pass on things that may not appeal to you, now or later. I wouldn't mind seeing some topics with the type of coins and quality, that you do not pass on. Dentistry aside, this is a coin forum after all.
That's quite shocking since I don't believe that this coin, with that toning, would Attract MS66 money.
It very well might not. Just because they gave it a MS66 grade...doesn't mean it will attract that kind of money. If someone wants it...but doesn't like the toning, they might not be willing to pay 66 money for it. Then again, someone might really like the toning and pony up for it. It's all about the buyer.
No worries, I have plenty of attractive and unattractive toned coins. As long as they show some signs of a virgin surface, I'm happy to own them. It's like I run a rescue operation, before some clown or NGC decides to dip or clean the coin.
Well good for you. I had a Type C Reverse in MS64 that had the exact toning which kinda makes me think "dirty" silver. Personally, I would never consider dipping coins which have this since most assuredly, there would be damage below that "crust" and I don't think I'm alone with this.
