These coins aren't my forte so I'll ask the question, do these have weak strike issues? Also, those gouges down the Eagle's leg are gnarly. I hope it didn't receive any sort of toning bump in the grading process. It's a beautiful coin, but not without its problems. I'm going to say MS62, although if it was an AU slider I wouldn't be the least bit surprised. (Which would obviously state that some of the weaker areas on the coin are wear and not due to a weak strike).
Frank, I have owned a gem grade 44-s before. This coin aint that! I was torn between AU58 and MS62. I know the 44-S is known for a poor strike.
44s, like the 41s & 42S are notorious weak strikes. forget having a thumb, sometimes there ain't no body Lehigh I have also owned gems
