Not being a smart alec, but is that the true color? Is it the way the coin looks in hand?

The obverse toning and the pictures may be hiding some contact marks here and there.

    I'll say MS-63, but I'm feeling PCGS gave it a MS-64.

Not sure how PCGS can justify an MS66 grade with the condition of the shield on the reverse, the obverse color not withstanding.

    I agree .
Pcgs graders must been in A very mood grade wise. Toning could be from left over mint wash.

Agree. But then, it was more than likely a case of "color" blindness meaning that whomever looked at it was "blinded" by the color on the obverse.

Grading stunts like this make me want to barf.

This is precisely why I stopped paying big money for high grade PCGS Kennedy Halves. Too much inconsistency in the grades.

Perhaps PCGS is considering the chatter remnant planchet flaws. I don't know how they would justify that either given the strike, but hey, it is a theory.

The first thing I noticed when I looked at the reverse.

No better indictment of the premium gem grade than that comment right there.:cigar:
