I like the obverse toning, not thrilled with the reverse though. Tough to evaluate the luster but there are some marks and the obverse strike looks soft. I say MS63.

  5. I like the crusty mint set toning. I will go MS64. No FBL.

I like the toning, but I don't like the rub behind the ear

I don't know, I put ms62. I don't like the coin much no matter the grade. the reverse is getting close to corrosion IMO.

Absolutely incredible coin--LOVE the toning. MS 63 NO FBL.

So you think the coin is AT, cleaned, environmental damage?

I believe that the terrible scratch on the left side of Bens head will prevent this coin from passing. It will most likely grade AU Details. The toning may be hiding other problems that we can't see by not having this coin in hand.

A few years ago I would send coins like this to PCGS often. They would almost always come back with some sort of qualifier. I've even had some come back as UNC Details with Questionable Color. I certainly hope that I am wrong and that this coin grades higher AND passes!

It looks like "the terrible scratch on the left side of Bens head" is actually on the holder, right Brian? I also think it's very hard to grade a coin with such a strong toning. Low MS grade, 62? 63?

I thought it was on the holder as well. I guess we will find out soon enough.

You really shouldn't let your coins roll around on the floor of your shed like that.
