Yeah, that's what I meant: SP-66. I've gotten a new keyboard and my fingers aren't used to the positioning of the key just yet, so it LOOKED LIKE I wrote MS-63, but I actually typed SP-66... so...
I don’t think you under stand the GTG!! You should held out for more than 3post! Why did you break it free?
Now that i look again, I don't like the colors, and I have a hard time picturing this getting a straight grade
Those colors worry me. I’d be concerned that you bought a label from a different coin and an AT coin. Why would someone crack it out just to sell it on Reddit...unless they were trying to pull a fast one.
I have cracked out (freed) many slabbed coins! Including proofs. For several reasons: (1) may have been okay when sealed, but later displayed latent blemishes. Or, (2) most of my archival coin albums are not made for slabs. I save the grade tags, and tape them to the inside cover of the album. It is easy to compare the freed coin with most of the TPGs on-line images to verify. Another reason, (3) some knockers (loose coins in slabs) are a pain, so I often free them. Another reason, (4) the slab itself may be very very scratched up, imposible to remove (headlight polish and all) . Another reason, (5) damaged slabs often sell for real bargains!! I do have albums of slabbed coins as well, but they are quite specific, and nice slabs (Ike's for example). Another reason, is (6) to re-submit, hopping (hop hop ) for a higher grade. Anyways.....But why was this Kennedy freed? Was it stepped on, or driven over?? My first crack out was simply to examine the quality and craftsmanship of the slab itself, (which I did only once with a cent which had a bad carbon spot), used a vise and hacksaw. Other than the odd toning, the coin looks physically fairly good/clean I would remove the toning! I do take risks, but silver often cleans up nicely. On a second thought, the coin MAY have been prior dipped, and then rinsed in tap water (which can later generate this weird "toning"). Always de-acidify with filtered H2O. Finally, did you photograph the coin?? Nice job if you did! Gary in Washington
What these guys said. Anybody can pair a label with any coin once it's cracked out. Outside of a tpg slab, it has no tpg grade.
