    We had so much fun with the last couple of shillings that I will now present you with a new challenge. Guess the grades on these two 1953 Shillings, one English and one Scottish.

    Yes the last one was quite fun :) These have some of the typical weak spots, but no wear... I'll just leave my opinion at that lol

    Looks like Scotland has wear but England doesn't. I'll say 55/ 64 even though the reverses look almost identical

    A few marks on both, but I'd say 63 or 64 on the first and 65 on the second

    Good guesses, everyone. Much closer than last time!

    NGC graded the first one 65, and the second one is 66.

    Wow. Ouch. That's a little low, even on the British scale (which is similar to the US scale, but different).

    Some old-school British collectors don't get higher than gEF. Even if it's fresh off the press, FDC, immaculate -- they will still say "oh that's about gEF"...pretty funny actually. I always chuckle a bit when I post a coin on a British coin forum I frequent.

    Another way to grade the coins
    Buyer = Good Extra Fine
    Seller = Bright Uncirculated
