I hope to get this done before I leave, but I will have to short cycle it. I will be gone for about 10 days starting this Saturday - basically without internet connection.

NOTE: If you don't vote in the poll, your vote will not be counted

61 maybe 62, anyway you can get a post a picture zoomed in on the mint mark and the 5?

It does look like there is something going on there in my original pic. I cannot see it in hand and here is another picture that agrees with my in hand opinion.

    No grade - scratched.

Are you talking about under the ear?

And I dont think that that by his ear is enough to stop it from grading. IMO

In hand does it look like a scratch or a struck through?

63 --- but higher would not surprise me.

Coin looks very clean. Luster appears a bit muted.

The combination, in my experience, makes it tough to grade from a photo.

    Yes.

It obviously didn't - but I think it should have.

I'll bet that "scratch" is a strikethrough, and the luster (or lack thereof) limited the grade.

In hand, I am 99% sure that is a strike through. I see zero evidence to indicate a scratch. It has a square end (south) and, it is hard to pick out, but it turns about 120° (CC) at the top of the ear lobe and that also ends square. BTW, it also has a very uniform depth.

    Thanks. I'll go with a 63.

If it is, then I would go with 63.

Ms-63? Kind of tough to grade since there's a lack of luster and marks.

You have got to be kidding me. 15 guesses and absolutely NO ONE guessed it right. Both sides of it, but no one went for 62.

I think Doug actually got it right, but for the wrong reason. I think NGC net graded this because it has been dipped or otherwise lightened. This coin is unnaturally flat in hand

I think that is the silliest pcgs grade, NO! it is the dumbest grade ever! if there is a scratch or dent or what ever and it should grade as at least circulated or if it is mint damage then it is mint damage, but to give a coin no grade because of scratch.. shheeeeesh what will they think of next? no grade because the coin has been exposed to the environment? :p

My first impression was 63 details suspect color due to cleaning
