    1917- PCGS slabbed

NOTE: If you don't vote in the poll, your vote will not be counted

At least most of the scratches you see are on the slab.

I'll go with 62 on this one.

I think there's some luster under the dirty surfaces.

    Leadfoot there is no spoon

I am confused by this coin's photo. Guessed 63.

63-4 here...1917 usually has that mushy strike and it's just that big nick on his nose that drives me crazy.

FWIW, 1917 is the single best detailed Lincoln I know of. The one I posted in http://www.cointalk.com/t127781/, you can literally count the locks going OVER his ear (4, BTW).

well maybe I should change my grade then ;)

The master dies were new in 1916, I consider the 1916's to have the most detail of any.

And the 1917's have everything that does plus a hairy ear. Look at Heritage's best (MS-67's and 68's). The 1917's have more and better details.

A few hits, but I liked this coin. The slab was scratched and made it more a guess than usual. :)

after the comments I read from Duke and RLM, I am thinking it received a 65 but I gave it a 64.

I have said nothing about this particular coin, just 1917's in general. However, if anyone has a chance to get a very well struck 1917 (or even 1916), get it. They have so much more detail than other years and you will not be disappointed.

Sorry, but I forgot to bump these last night. They are closed now.

Although the slab may not be in great shape, there is little wrong with the coin save Abe's nose. It is actually far from the best strike I have sen for a 1917, but still it is way better than nearly every other wheat. I have no problem with their 64

64 doesn't surprize me. I knew I was being slightly conservative, this one is borderline IMO. I would have said 64 based on the distance picture, looks like some nice luster.
