Nice VDB , thinking 66 . It sure is clean though but the luster looks a little muted to me .

Does it need a better strike to make 66 or is this already considered a good strike for a VDB?

From the pictures the luster looks a little subdued - but still another nice one.

    I'll let rlm answer that , as I'm not 100% sure .

Yes. BTW, the end times are always immediately under the poll question. Again, I am not sure about the answers. New computer showed up today. Setup easily and operates like a flash. It has Windows 8 and that will take some getting used to. Everything is fine - except neither of the front USB ports work so I have to take it back.

That stinks , you'd think their QC would check out all that before it leaves the factory . Thanks .

Really pretty coin. With this one we are really trying to guess the luster from an image. In my opinion the coin is a solid 65 maybe 66 but that's not my vote.

Another coin I don’t get. First off, this coin is virtually nick free. Most of what you are seeing is on the slab. A couple of you caught that the luster is a bit muted at least on the reverse. I am sure that is enough to preclude a 66. As for strike, everything is there and the only resemblance of weakness is the beard detail. It is not something I would consider a weak strike. It might not be a razor sharp early die state, but nothing I would deduct for. But that might be the link to NGC’s grade. They only gave it a 64. Obviously, that is not what I would give it. Maybe ldhair can explain it since he was the only one to guess 64.

I never expected a 64 . Dick what is that mark on the reverse bottom ? The 1st one I missed in about 3 or 4 weeks . I hope Larry explains the 64 because I don't see it unless it's that bottom reverse
    mark .

My lighting, I guess because there is nothing on the coin.

Too much to drink and had to gamble a bit. rlm nails these images including the luster. I just didn't see it with this coin.
