This is one where the wood grain more affects the picture than the view in hand. Yes, the stripes are visible, but they are not the focal points of the coin. The fine grain blends in well in hand, but hide the luster on the picture. In hand, it actually has fair luster and a pretty solid strike. I guess those rubs on the face got called album friction. The fine grain also hides a couple small nicks in the picture, but I doubt they noticeably affected the grade. The spots are definitely more of an eye catcher in the picture than in hand. I think this is a 64 coin held to a 63 by the spots. This time, PCGS agreed.
I give up on woodies , Was going to go 64-1 , but that black , whatever it is made me think 63 then -1 for being a woody .
What is that white spot below the M in AMERICA on the reverse? Otherwise it's a very nice looking cent.
