I've almost pulled the trigger on similar looking coins in this date, but just can't get past the comparative to my AU55 model, so have have and continue to wait for a RB or Red with similar strike and detail.. and badness is correct, the reds and even rb's don't come up too often at all, they are out there,,, but no one's passing them around like they use to. 1924S-OBV.JPG

That is a nice strike. What did they find wrong with it. I don't see wht it did not get a 58, anyway.

NICE! EDS both sides, very well struck for one of the worst issues. Finding these in MS red is very rare.

Clean fields , no wear that I can see . Just those hits on the cheek . 63.

Nice strike (real nice for a 24-S). Yes, the obverse is a bit flat, but that is typical for 1920's branch mint coins from overused dies and does not count against the grade at this level.. The luster is not blooming, but it is there and does not appear to be broken anywhere. The fields are pretty clean, but there are those nicks on the jaw. Mostly, there are no major distractions. PCGS gave it a 63. I would be tempted to say that is a bit low. 63+ or if I was real lucky 64.

BTW, did this one scare everyone away? Those who guessed did very well.

I like this coin in a 4 holder, I think 63BN sucks, 63+ or 64 would be more accurate IMO. I see a lot of red below lightly browned surfaces, that's a SUPER nice coin for the issue. The 24S is the hardest Lincoln to find with a strike like that.
