I almost did not put this one up but decided you could learn more if I did. Yes, this coin has real nice luster, a solid strike and is nearly nick free. But it is not spot free. See those 2 white rings on the reverse? They are carbon spots. I do not know why or how my camera does that, but it does. They actually appear smaller (and black) in hand with a little dot in the center, but they are there. So, yes. they held it back to a 66.
The top 2 and the bottom 4 stayed the same, but the middle sure hopped around. I was counting on it being an older slab , and the spots not there or barely visible . Well one right one wrong . Hey ldhair , still like 5th place better , congrats bro on being one of the few who got them both right .
Thanks. I changed my mind. I want your spot It's been a really long time. I'm on a roll. Now that I say that I'll probably miss the next two.
You cannot see the coin, but those spots were really spots. Granted they were not totally blatantly distracting the view, but they can be seen without a loupe. I know they did not photograph as that noticeable, but they were.
many of the coins that are certified by PCGS and NGC as BU grades, are really just AU and sometimes less than AU grade coins.
