Oh! My poor heart skipped a beat when I first saw the pics (without reading the title, of course) and thought it was a copper 1943! I'll go 65 on this one.

I may have a few nice coins, but I doubt that I could trade all of mine for a 1943 copper that looked like that.

Wait a minute, is that a DDR? Or is that just MD I see on the letters in 'ONE CENT'?

As best I can tell, it is just the angle of the lighting.

Start out by saying that the darker appearing areas on the reverse are shine and not toning. First off, most all of the "nicks" you are seeing are left over planchet marks. (They do not show as well in hand as most nicks nor count as severely.) Secondly, even those icons are 3X on my screen. If you cannot see the nick there, either the coin is at the wrong angle or the nick is just plain too small for a grader to see. Yes, there are a couple tiny nicks (gradable nicks), but most all do not show in hand. Nice luster and strike, so they gave it a 66. I even think it is a nice 66

Besides a new leader, it almost looks like everyone went through a mixmaster. And, we have ddoomm1 back in the top 10
